How do we re-establish trust in economics asks Lars P. Syll
Such a mystery.
Why don't they start by learning and understanding Austrian School concepts such as limited knowledge and economic calculation? Oh, but that would be so FRINGE. And so GAUCHE.
Government promises free doctors for everyone - but the NYT says there aren't enough doctors - HOW CAN THAT BE????
By ANNIE
LOWREY and ROBERT PEAR
RIVERSIDE, Calif.
— In the Inland Empire, an economically depressed region in Southern
California, President Obama’s health care law is expected to extend
insurance coverage to more than 300,000 people by 2014. But coverage will not
necessarily translate into care: Local health experts doubt there will be
enough doctors to meet the area’s needs. There are not enough now.
Other places
around the country, including the Mississippi Delta, Detroit and suburban
Phoenix, face similar problems. The Association of American Medical Colleges
estimates that in 2015 the country will have 62,900 fewer doctors than needed.
And that number will more than double by 2025, as the expansion of insurance
coverage and the aging of baby boomers drive up demand for care. Even without
the health care law, the shortfall of doctors in 2025 would still exceed
100,000.
How is that POSSIBLE? Everyone knows that government bureaucrats have special powers to coordinate goods and services over time that average mortals simply do not possess.

When are we going to get serious and enact furniture control?
Look at the causes of these outrageous numbers of murders in the USA in 2010:
745 with hands and feet
373 with shotguns
358 with rifles
745 with hands and feet
373 with shotguns
358 with rifles
But in 2000, there were 650 deaths from falls involving a bed, chair or other furniture. WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT THIS TERRIBLE PROBLEM? If the government forced everyone to sit on the floor, none of this would happen.
It's good thing Obama has unleashed his swarm of drones to watch over us. They could look into windows and make sure that everyone is always sitting on the floor!

Daniel Kuehn shows his true colors
The great Glenn Greenwald, the only "progressive" left with any integrity.
It should never surprise us that "progressives" are blind to slaughter when performed by one of their own guys
Stalin killed 30 to 50 million people. So did Mao. Ever see a single film come out of "progressive" Hollywood with socialist genocide as its main theme?
Obama will be freer to attack Iran as Democrats will cheer for violence and slaughter when ordered by a sophisticated, urbane, "progressive" Constitutional Law Professor
From Glenn Greenwald, the last "progressive" with integrity:
"In other words, Obama will be freer to attack Iran than Romney would be because Democrats, progressives, and the “international community” (that’s neocon for: Europeans) passively accept or even cheer for violence, aggression and executive power abuses when ordered by a sophisticated, urbane, Constitutional Law Professor with Good Progressivism in his heart, and only cause a messy ruckus when done by an icky, religious, overtly nationalistic Republican.
To see how true that is, just compare the years-long screeching over President Bush’s mere eavesdropping and detentions without any judicial review or transparency — he’s assaulting the Constitution and Our Values! – compared with the reaction to Obama’s more extremist assassinations without any judicial review or transparency. Or consider how a high-level aide to John Ashcroft marveled with envy over Obama’s ability to prosecute whistleblowers with such abandon, noting to The New York Times that the Ashcroft DOJ was deterred by the prospect of a political storm that Obama simply does not face: ”We,” lamented the Ashcroft aide, “would have gotten hammered for it.”

Thank goodness for "Lord Keynes"
I do not in fact think monetarists are anywhere near as bad as Austrians.
Of course, "Lord Keynes" still does not understand the basic Austrian concept of economic calculation.

The inflationists are afraid of us!
Here's the headline for a post by the evil Matthew Yglesias:
Hassle Ben Bernanke! The economy will never recover unless the Fed loosens monetary policy. So why are liberals so afraid to talk about it?
Liberals are AFRAID to talk about it because normal people don't believe it. Heck, normal people don't even know that the Federal Reserve and its funny money are the CAUSE of inflation. Our approach must be directed at normal average people and teach them once and for all that inflation in not a mysterious force of nature but a purposeful government policy advocated by "progressives" of all parties.
